DAYTONA BEACH SHORES — A Fort Lauderdale-based hotel owner has bought the Emerald Shores at 2613 S. Atlantic Ave., in Daytona Beach Shores.
Hotel Motel LLC paid $5.5 million for the 9-floor, 82-room oceanfront hotel and a narrow vacant strip of vacant land on the north side of the hotel, according to Volusia County property records. The hotel was built in 2004 and was part of a $10 million multi-parcel sale in 2005.
“With the number of projects going on in Daytona Beach, we felt it was a good opportunity to get into the market as it was taking off,” said Jai Motwani, who owns the company along with his wife Jessica Motwani.
Being a newer hotel, the owners plan minor cosmetic upgrades to the rooms to include 42-inch flat-screen televisions, new bedding and new carpet. They also plan to add a tiki bar and possibly a fitness center and putt-putt golf.
The hotel will remain an independent operation.
Jai Motwani said he also owns hotels in Fort Lauderdale; Branson, Mo.; Columbia, S.C. and Springfield, Ill.
